Villa Wertheimstein, Heritage protected villa in Döbling, Austria.

Villa Wertheimstein is located on Döblinger Hauptstraße and displays rooms furnished in nineteenth-century style with original pieces and decorations. The building now houses a museum focused on the history of Vienna's Döbling district.

Rudolf von Arthaber constructed the building between 1834 and 1835 on the grounds of a former monastery, creating a Biedermeier-style house. Later, Franziska von Wertheimstein transferred the house and its park to Vienna's city government for public use.

The villa houses rooms dedicated to important writers, including a space for Ferdinand Saar and another for Eduard von Bauernfeld. These spaces help visitors connect the house to Vienna's literary world of the 1800s.

The museum building stands on a main street and is accessible by tram and bus lines. It is best to call ahead to confirm visiting hours and current opening days.

The house preserves traces of its former residents, including furniture and personal objects that reveal how wealthy Vienna families lived. These details offer visitors a look into daily life among the city's middle class during the 1800s.
