Hintere Schwärze is a mountain summit in the Ötztal Alps that reaches 3,624 meters elevation at the border between Austria and Italy. The peak sits between Sölden Valley to the north and Schnals Valley to the south, with steep rocky faces on multiple sides.

The first ascent was made on 10 September 1867 by Ernst Pfeiffer of Vienna with guides Benedict Klotz and Josef Scheiber, climbing from Vent through the Niedertal and over the Marzellferner to the summit in nine hours. In 1868 Franz Senn and Cyprian Granbichler followed the Schalfferner and east ridge. The normal route was first climbed on 30 September 1870 by the Viennese doctor Moritz von Statzer with guides Alois Ennemoser and Gabriel Spechtenhauser; Heinrich Heß and Ludwig Purtscheller first climbed the north ridge in 1877.

The mountain's Italian name, Cima Nera, means "Black Peak", while the German name refers to the dark rock that shows through the snow. The first ascent on 10 September 1867 was made by Ernst Pfeiffer of Vienna with guides Benedict Klotz and Josef Scheiber, who took nine hours from Vent over the Marzellferner and the brittle southwest ridge.

Climbing this summit requires advanced alpine skills and proper equipment due to the technical difficulty of the route and the high altitude. Potential climbers should have experience with mountain conditions and plan to go during summer when weather is most stable.

The peak is almost entirely ringed by glaciers: the Schalfferner to the northeast, the Marzellferner to the northwest and the Roßbergferner to the south, the last shrinking markedly with global warming. The south-facing flanks lie within the Texelgruppe Nature Park. The easiest route, first climbed on 30 September 1870 by the Viennese doctor Moritz von Statzer with guides Alois Ennemoser and Gabriel Spechtenhauser, starts from the Martin-Busch-Hütte at 2,501 m.
