Spiegelkogel, Mountain summit in Ötztal Alps, Austria
Spiegelkogel is a summit in the Schnalskamm group of the Ötztal Alps, standing at 3,426 meters (11,240 feet). The mountain features steep slopes and the ridge leading to the peak includes exposed sections that demand careful foot placement.
The summit was first documented when Franz Senn and guides V. von Mayrl, J. Schöpf, and J. Gstrein reached the peak in 1870. This ascent reflected the rising mountaineering interest in Tyrol during the 1800s.
The mountain belongs to the network of alpine peaks that form an essential part of Tyrolean mountaineering traditions and local climbing heritage.
The route starts from Ramolhaus mountain hostel and takes about three hours, requiring no specialized climbing gear. Good foot security and mountain fitness are needed due to the exposed ridge sections.
The mountain maintains a prominence of 181 meters above surrounding peaks, offering views of neighboring giants Firmisanschneide and Schalfkogel in the Ötztal range.
