Hinterer Seelenkogel, Alpine summit in Ötztal, Austria
The Hinterer Seelenkogel reaches an elevation of 3,472 meters, featuring steep glacial fields and commanding views across the Austrian-Italian border.
Mountaineers first documented their ascent of this peak in 1871, establishing initial routes that would shape future climbing expeditions in the Ötztal Alps.
The mountain bears two names, Hinterer Seelenkogel in German and Cima delle Anime in Italian, reflecting the linguistic diversity of the Alpine region.
Climbers need avalanche safety equipment, touring skis, and crampons to navigate the challenging terrain, particularly during the January to May climbing season.
The summit requires a substantial elevation gain of 1,034 meters over 7 kilometers when accessed from the Langtalereck Hütte starting point.
