Scheffauer

The Scheffauer rises to 2,111 meters as part of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range, offering challenging hiking routes through forest paths, rocky passages, and secured rope sections with panoramic views over the Inn Valley.

The mountain has served as a notable landmark for local mountaineers and explorers since the 19th century, with established climbing routes that have drawn outdoor adventurers to this prominent peak in the Northern Limestone Alps for decades.

Local Tyrolean culture surrounds the Scheffauer with traditional alpine architecture in nearby villages, regional culinary specialties served in mountain huts, and folklore that associates the peak with stories of early settlers and explorers.

Hikers can access the summit via a 7.9-kilometer trail starting from Bärnstatt in Scheffau, requiring approximately seven hours, sturdy mountaineering boots, weather-appropriate clothing, and helmets due to steep rock faces and secured rope sections.

The descent follows the Widauersteig trail with steel rope sections leading to Kaindlhütte mountain hut, passing through alpine pastures and the scenic Hintersteiner See lake, creating a complete loop adventure for experienced mountaineers.
