Lofer, Market town in Salzburg, Austria

The municipality stretches along the Saalach river valley between the Chiemgau Alps and Reiter Alpe mountains at an elevation of 626 meters.

The Prince-Bishops of Salzburg granted market rights to Lofer in 1473, establishing its status as a significant trading post on the route to Tyrol.

The parish church, constructed around 1500, stands as a central element of religious life with its architectural features representing regional building traditions.

The town maintains 58 kilometers of prepared ski slopes during winter season, while the Saalach river provides opportunities for water activities in summer.

Several fortifications at Strub Pass near Lofer served as defensive structures until Bavarian forces demolished them during the Tyrolean Rebellion of 1809.
