Bayreuther Hütte, Mountain hut in Münster, Austria
The Bayreuther Hütte sits at roughly 1576 meters in the Rofan Mountains and offers views of surrounding peaks. The building has sleeping areas with beds, a dining room, and basic facilities for mountain hikers.
The refuge was built in 1908 by the Lentsch family from Hall in Tirol as a private shelter. In 1926, the Bayreuth section of the German Alpine Club took over the building.
The hut embodies traditional mountain culture through its simple, functional spaces where hikers share meals and accommodations. This way of living together shapes daily life and shows how mountains bring people together.
You can reach the hut from Kramsach in about 3 hours on foot or from Münster's Höllenstein hamlet in 2.5 hours via the Steinapfelsteig trail. It is a good idea to start early to cover the distance during daylight.
The hut sits at a point where three valleys meet: the Inntal, the Alpbachtal, and the Zillertal. This special location makes it a junction point for various mountain routes that hikers can pursue from here.
