Bremer Hütte, Mountain hut in Gschnitztal Valley, Austria.
Bremer Hutte sits at 2413 meters in the Stubai Alps and stands at a junction where multiple alpine hiking routes meet. The facility provides lodging and meals for mountaineers and trekkers passing through this high alpine area.
The Bremen Division of the Alpine Club built this shelter in 1897 as a base for mountaineers exploring the Gschnitztal area. Its construction was part of efforts to open up the southern Stubai region for mountain climbing.
The hut is maintained by the Bremen Alpine Club and offers genuine mountain refuge culture with traditional meals and shared sleeping areas where hikers connect.
The climb from Laponesalm takes about 90 minutes on a well-marked trail, with taxi service available from the valley. Visitors should prepare for high alpine weather and bring suitable gear.
A small cable car system carries supplies and backpacks up to the hut, making daily operations easier for staff. The facility also runs a small hydroelectric plant to power the buildings.
