Carl-von-Stahl-Haus, Mountain hut in Golling an der Salzach, Austria.
The Carl-von-Stahl-Haus is a mountain hut positioned at 1736 meters in the Berchtesgadener Alps, situated between the Hagen Mountains and Göllstock. The facility provides around 44 mattress sleeping places and remains accessible year-round.
The Austrian Alpine Club established this shelter as part of its network of mountain huts and named it after Carl von Stahl, a respected member. This creation was part of the broader effort to make Alpine regions accessible to mountain travelers.
The hut serves as a gathering place for climbers and hikers crossing this region of the Alps. Visitors find meals and shelter that reflect the rhythm of mountain life in these peaks.
Reserve a spot ahead of time, as the hut has limited capacity and operates year-round except December 24th. In winter, ski tours and snowshoe walks can start or end here using well-maintained paths that lead to the shelter.
The shelter is also known as a hub for ski touring in winter, with well-maintained paths bringing skiers directly to and from the location. This accessibility makes it a favored base for various winter mountaineering routes in the area.
