Hoher Lindkogel

Hoher Lindkogel is an 834-meter peak in the Vienna Woods with a television and observation tower at its summit. Multiple trails wind through the mountain, passing dense forest and rocky outcrops as they climb from various starting points around the base.

The first tower construction began in 1856, marking the mountain's transformation into a regional observation point. This early development established the site as an important destination in the Vienna Woods region.

The Eisernes Tor shelter near the summit serves as a gathering place where hikers meet and share their mountain experiences. This spot reflects how the mountain functions as a social center for the local hiking community.

Multiple parking areas surround the mountain in Helenental valley, with signs marking various trail starts. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear as the paths vary in difficulty and can be muddy or slippery depending on the season.

The peak offers far-reaching views across Lower Austria that extend well beyond the region on clear days. This exceptional visibility made the location attractive for telecommunications infrastructure as early as the 1800s.
