Lachenspitze, Mountain summit in Tyrol, Austria
Lachenspitze is a summit in the Allgäu Alps that rises to 2126 meters and is made of dolomite rock. The north face wall and several climbing routes through the rock formations make it a destination for different skill levels.
The via ferrata route on the north face opened in 2009 and created a new technical path for climbers in the Allgäu Alps. This new route expanded the options available for experienced climbers in this mountain region.
Local climbers regularly use the different routes and help keep the mountaineering tradition of the region alive.
The climb requires about 6 hours total, with a vertical ascent of about 1120 meters through varied terrain. Visitors should bring good footwear and climbing experience, especially for the more technical sections.
This peak combines both easy hiking trails and demanding via ferrata sections on the same route, offering options for different skill levels. It is unusual for a single summit to accommodate both beginners and experienced climbers heading to the top together.
