Kasseler Hütte, Mountain hut in Zillertal Alps, Austria.
The Kasseler Hütte sits at 2177 meters in the upper Stilluptal valley, surrounded by marked alpine trails and mountain peaks. The building provides 22 rooms and 68 dormitory beds for overnight guests.
The hut was established in 1927 as a base for mountain hikers in the region. In 1999, it received environmental certification for its ecological practices.
The hut serves regional Tyrolean dishes that reflect the food traditions of the Alps, offering visitors a taste of local mountain cuisine. These meals are an important part of the experience for those passing through the high-altitude landscape.
The hut has solar-powered hot water showers and is open from mid-June through late September. Visitors should be prepared for a high-altitude setting that requires proper mountain gear.
Next to the building stands a climbing garden with routes of different difficulty levels, designed by mountain guide Peter Habeler. This outdoor practice area allows climbers to develop their skills right on the hut grounds.
