The Pfarrkirche Schwechat features a prominent bell tower with high niches and a richly decorated western facade with stone figures of David and Moses.
Construction occurred in two phases, with the late baroque tower completed in 1757 and the main church building finished and consecrated in 1765.
The high altar displays a large painting by Martin Johann Schmidt depicting Apostle James preaching to the people of Jerusalem.
Located at Hauptplatz 5, the church forms an architectural ensemble with the former parish house and school building in front of its main portal.
The church ceiling suffered severe bomb damage during World War II, resulting in the loss of valuable frescoes by Franz Anton Maulbertsch.
