Schweinfurter Hütte, Alpine mountain hut in Horlachtal Valley, Tyrol, Austria.
The Schweinfurter Hütte sits at about 2,028 meters (6,654 ft) in the Stubai Alps and accommodates around 52 guests across rooms and dormitory beds. The facility serves hikers and climbers with lodging and meals in the Horlachtal Valley.
The building was constructed in 1912 as a private hunting lodge and joined the Guben Division of the German Alpine Club in 1918. This transition opened it to public use as a mountain refuge.
The mountain hut maintains traditional Tyrolean hospitality through its dining spaces, where hosts Carmen and Andreas Jeitner prepare regional dishes in the common room.
Visitors follow a marked trail from the Sennhof parking area in Niederthai and walk about two hours along Horlachbach stream to reach the hut. Good hiking boots and weather preparation are recommended, especially given changing mountain conditions.
During winter months, a long sledding track runs from the hut down to the parking area in Niederthai. Many visitors overlook this winter option, even though it offers a fun way to descend the mountain.
