Stappitzer See, Natural lake in Mallnitz, Austria.

The Stappitzer See extends across 8.4 hectares within the Hohe Tauern National Park, reaching a maximum depth of 6 meters at 1273 meters elevation.

During the last Wurm glacial period, a landslide blocked the waters in Mallnitz valley, forming this lake through natural geological processes.

The lake functions as a vital observation point for ornithologists who study migratory patterns of black-throated loons and western yellow wagtails.

Visitors can access the lake through marked hiking trails in the Seebachtal valley, with multiple routes suitable for different hiking experience levels.

The water body contains 130,000 cubic meters of water and maintains an average depth of 3.6 meters throughout its natural basin formation.
