The Griesmauer is a ridge of three main summits in the Hochschwab group of the Northern Styrian Limestone Alps: the Vordernberger Griesmauer (2014 m), the TAC-Spitze (2019 m) and the highest, the Griesmauerkogel (2034 m), also called the Eisenerzer Griesmauer. The massif lies on the boundary of the municipalities of Eisenerz, Tragöß-Sankt Katharein and Vordernberg. The southern two summits are climbed by a normal route from the Präbichl in the southwest and from the Eisenerzer Gsollkehre in the northwest, meeting at the Hirscheggsattel (1699 m); a short via ferrata of grade A/B leads to the TAC-Spitze. No marked path leads to the Griesmauerkogel.
The name Griesmauer refers to the whole ridge; its three main summits are the Vordernberger Griesmauer (2014 m), the TAC-Spitze (2019 m) and the Griesmauerkogel (2034 m), also called Eisenerzer Griesmauer. The TAC-Spitze is named after the Touristen-Alpen-Club. Climbers know the Grattürme, or Fledermausgrat, five small towers a few minutes from the Hirscheggsattel.

The exposed limestone layers at the summit display geological formations spanning more than 100 million years of Earth history. Visitors who examine the rock faces closely may notice fossils and traces of ancient marine environments within the stone.
