Schloss Oberrain, Unken

Schloss Oberrain is a three-story castle in Unken featuring a distinctive tower with two window axes on each level. The building displays a hipped roof and open loggias decorated with ornamental stucco work that runs across the façade.

The property originally developed as Seidlgut and later merged with a tavern under Konrad Leyrer's ownership, remaining within his family for roughly 200 years. During the 20th century, it served as a maternity home in 1940 and subsequently functioned as a command post for the US Army.

The entrance portal displays the state coat of arms from 1796, along with an inscription requesting protection against misfortunes.

The castle is located at Unken 8 and currently operates under anderskompetent GmbH, an organization preparing young people with disabilities for independent living and employment. Visitors should know that the building remains an active workplace and does not function as a regular tourist attraction.
