Bosruckhütte, Mountain hut in Spital am Pyhrn, Austria
Bosruckhütte is a mountain lodge situated at 1,036 feet (1,036 meters) elevation in the Ennstal Alps between Großer Pyhrgas and Bosruck mountains. It provides food and shelter to hikers using the local mountain paths in this region.
The lodge was established in 1942 and has served as a waypoint for hikers crossing the Upper Austrian mountains ever since. Its decades of operation show how such mountain shelters became essential to the region's hiking tradition.
The Pal family maintains traditional Austrian mountain culture by serving regional dishes like Käsespätzle and Schweinsbraten from their kitchen. The dining room brings together hikers from different routes, creating a gathering space where visitors connect over food and shared mountain experiences.
Visitors can reach the lodge on foot through the Dr. Vogelgesang gorge, which takes around ninety minutes and is open from May through October, or drive close by and walk just ten minutes. The hiking route conditions vary depending on the season, so plan accordingly.
The lodge features a natural play area beside the Klammbach stream where children can explore and play. Young visitors receive a small souvenir, a nail for their hiking stick, to take home as a memory.
