Pfarrkirche, Protected church building in Maria Alm, Austria
The Pfarrkirche Hinterthal stands with its five-story tower reaching 84 meters, making it the tallest church tower in the Salzburg region.
The church's origins trace back to 1374 when it was first documented as Maria in der Almb, receiving papal indulgence from Pope Martin V in 1429.
The high altar from 1753 features a medieval figure of Mary with child from 1470, accompanied by representations of saints Catherine and Barbara.
Religious services occur on Sundays and holidays at 10:15, Tuesdays at 08:30, and Thursdays at 19:00 with prior adoration at 18:30.
The church holds a wooden image of Mary originally placed on Schattberg mountain to protect laborers from bears, following a fatal incident.
