Sporthotel am Semmering, hotel in Semmering, Austria
The Sporthotel am Semmering is a mountain hotel in an Austrian ski resort with around one hundred rooms in different categories, from single rooms to superior doubles with balconies. The building has a restaurant with buffet breakfast and four-course dinners, a fitness center, an indoor pool, a Finnish sauna and steam bath, plus four seminar rooms.
The hotel was founded in 1913 by Josef Deisinger, who had learned the hotel business from a young age. During the Second World War, the building was taken over by the military and used as a hospital, later reopening as a hotel in 1946.
The name Semmering refers to the mountain pass and the long tradition of winter sports in this region. Visitors notice how local life is shaped by skiing and snow activities, which is reflected in how people spend their leisure time here.
The hotel is located in the Vienna Alps near Vienna and Graz and offers easily accessible slopes and hiking trails. The location is ideal for exploration, with most activities taking place outdoors and the hotel serving as a comfortable retreat afterward.
The hotel was taken over by the Artis Hotel Group in 2012 and is now connected to the local ski lift operations. This connection gives guests direct access to the slopes and makes the stay particularly convenient for winter sports enthusiasts.
