Mosque of the Martyrs

The Mosque of the Martyrs is a prayer house with white facades and a central dome located near Martyrs Lane in Baku. The structure blends traditional Ottoman architectural elements with contemporary aspects of its design.

The prayer house was founded in 1990 during Azerbaijan's independence movement and received support from the Turkish government. This project symbolized the bilateral relations between the two countries at that time.

The mosque displays Quranic verses from chapter Al-Baqara on its facade, honoring those who gave their lives for their beliefs. These inscriptions shape the spiritual character of the prayer house and give it deep meaning for visitors.

The place functions as the religious office of the Turkish embassy in Azerbaijan. Visitors should observe the customary practices for prayer houses when entering the building.

The building has undergone continuous development work since 2009, reflecting its adaptation to contemporary needs. This ongoing modernization makes it an example of a religious structure in evolution.
