Glamoč field

Glamoč field is a karst landscape that stretches across the region between several surrounding mountains at approximately 880 meters elevation. The terrain features open grasslands interspersed with limestone characteristics typical of karst formations.

The area was heavily settled in ancient times with numerous fortified positions built by indigenous tribes in the region. This early occupation left a strong mark on the landscape and local development.

The field holds dozens of medieval burial grounds scattered across its expanse, marked by stone monuments that reflect local burial practices from centuries past. Visitors walking through can still see these markers standing in the grasslands today.

The field is easily accessible with open terrain that allows good visibility across the landscape. The relatively flat to gently rolling ground makes it straightforward to explore the area on foot.

The field has been used as an emergency landing site for aircraft due to its flat and unobstructed terrain. This unusual role highlights the area's distinctive geographic features for such practical purposes.
