Cincar, Mountain summit in western Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Cincar is a mountain peak at 2006 meters elevation that forms part of the Dinaric Alps between the municipalities of Livno, Kupres, and Glamoč. The massif features limestone formations and steep, rocky flanks with sparse vegetation at higher elevations.
The mountain territory experienced transitions through Croatian and Bosnian kingdoms, followed by centuries of Ottoman control that shaped regional development. Mountain passes served for centuries as trade routes connecting the coast to inland areas.
The surrounding communities show different religious traditions, with Catholic churches, Orthodox temples, and mosques in nearby settlements.
Climbing is safest between June and October when weather conditions are more stable and established hiking trails are accessible. Visitors should bring sturdy footwear and be prepared for changing conditions at elevation.
From the peak, visitors can see several Bosnian mountains and on clear days the view extends far enough to reach the Adriatic Sea with its islands. This far-reaching vista makes the summit a particularly rewarding vantage point.
