Choto Sona Mosque, Sultana mosque in Chapai Nawabganj District, Bangladesh.
The Choto Sona Mosque is a place of worship in Chapai Nawabganj featuring fifteen domes and a rectangular layout. The structure extends approximately 42 meters east to west and 43.5 meters north to south.
Sultan Alauddin Husain Shah ordered the construction of this mosque between 1493 and 1519. Its creation marks an important period of architectural development in Bengal.
The mosque displays Islamic architecture from the 15th century with grey granite tiles and five prayer niches along the western wall. Visitors can see how these elements reflect the religious importance of the place.
The mosque sits about 35 kilometers from Chapai Nawabganj city and is accessible by bus or auto-rickshaw. The journey from the city takes approximately one hour.
The fifteen domes were once covered with gold, which gave the place its name. This glitter has long since faded, but the story of the golden roof lives on in the name.
