Tajhat Palace, Indo-Saracenic palace and museum in Rangpur District, Bangladesh
The four-story palace stretches 210 feet wide and features Italian marble staircases, exhibition halls, and grand pillars in white stone construction.
In the early 1900s, Maharaja Kumar Gopal Lal Roy commissioned the palace construction, which took ten years to complete under the supervision of 2000 workers.
The palace museum displays terracotta artworks from the 10th and 11th centuries, along with ancient Sanskrit and Arabic manuscripts including copies of the Quran and Mahabharata.
Located 6 kilometers from Rangpur city center, the palace opens its museum galleries to visitors with specific exhibition schedules and photography restrictions inside.
The palace contains secret staircases at its rear section, with local tales suggesting a hidden tunnel connection to the Ghaghat River.
