Tista Railway Bridge

The Tista Railway Bridge extends 2000 feet across the Teesta River, connecting the districts of Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, and Kurigram through the Burimari-Parbatipur line.

The railway bridge officially opened on October 16, 1901, and in 1978 received wooden sleepers to accommodate road vehicles under President Ziaur Rahman's direction.

The bridge functions as a central transportation link between multiple communities in northern Bangladesh, facilitating trade and social connections across the Teesta River.

Due to structural deterioration, a new road bridge project began in 2006 next to the existing railway bridge, with construction costs reaching 1.22 billion Taka.

This engineering structure ranks as Bangladesh's third-largest railway bridge, measuring approximately 2000 feet in length and maintaining vital connections in the region.
