Recreation Park and Rangpur Zoo, Zoological park in Rangpur Sadar Upazila, Bangladesh.
Recreation Park and Rangpur Zoo is a facility with multiple animal exhibits spread across a large area, housing tigers, lions, hippopotamuses, and other animals from different parts of the world. The grounds also include a central recreational park with an artificial lake.
The project began in 1988 and first opened to visitors in 1991 as a new attraction for the region. With substantial investment, it developed into an important facility in eastern Bangladesh.
The zoo serves as a gathering place where local families spend time together and learn about wildlife in a community setting. Visitors can see how the facility integrates into the daily life of Rangpur residents.
The zoo is located east of Hanuman-tola road and is easily reachable by local buses and rickshaws. Plan adequate time to explore all areas, especially during warm weather.
The grounds house the largest aviary in North Bengal, an impressive structure that particularly interests bird enthusiasts visiting the area. This aviary is known throughout the region for its size and the range of bird species housed there.
