Rajpat, Archaeological monument in Gosanimari, India

Rajpat is an archaeological site in Gosanimari with a horseshoe-shaped earthen wall and an ancient water system that served the settlement. Excavations uncovered structural remains and objects from several periods of occupation at this location.

The site served as the capital of the Khen dynasty until an invasion in 1498 brought their rule to an end. This event marked a turning point that reshaped the political situation in the region.

The site shows traces of people from different regions who left behind their crafts and daily objects. The pottery found here reveals how influences from eastern and western areas mixed together over time.

The site is large and takes time to explore properly, so plan for a full visit. Wear sturdy shoes since the ground is uneven and paths are not paved throughout.

The defensive wall was once about 30 feet high and 35 feet wide, stretching across significant distances. These impressive dimensions reveal how much effort was devoted to protecting this settlement.
