Altadighi National Park, National park in Dhamirhat, Naogaon, Bangladesh
Altadighi National Park is a protected area in the Dhamirhat region that covers roughly 264 hectares and lies near the Bangladesh-India border. A large water reservoir with a surface area of about 55 hectares shapes the landscape and attracts various wildlife species.
The protected area was officially established in December 2011 and represents Bangladesh's commitment to preserving natural spaces. The Forest Department has managed conservation efforts in this territory since its designation.
The surrounding villages are home to Adivasi communities who maintain their ancestral ways of life and shape daily rhythms in the region. Interaction with visitors offers glimpses into traditional craftsmanship and local knowledge systems.
The best approach is to take a train to Rajshahi, then a bus to Dhamirhat, and finally an auto-rickshaw to the park. The dry season offers easier access to paths and more frequent wildlife sightings than other times of year.
The area contains ancient high ridges and geological mounds covered by dense forest, creating a rare landform in this region. The large water tank attracts bird species that are uncommon to observe elsewhere in Bangladesh.
