Château of Belœil, Protected heritage castle in Belœil, Belgium
The château presents a rectangular structure with four round towers, surrounded by a moat and encompassing 25 hectares of French-style gardens.
The Ligne family acquired the property in 1394, transforming it from a fortified stronghold into their primary residence during the early 15th century.
The interior of the castle contains collections of period furniture, art pieces, and a library of rare volumes that survived the devastating fire of 1900.
The estate opens to visitors during weekends and holidays from April through September, with special arrangements available for guided group tours.
The gardens, created in 1664, maintain their original design with geometric ponds and straight pathways that mirror the French formal garden style.
