Sint-Quintinuskerk

Sint-Quintinuskerk, Church building in Zonhoven, Belgium.

Sint-Quintinuskerk is a church building in Zonhoven featuring an early Gothic tower and a classicist main structure composed of three naves, a straight choir section, and a semi-circular apse. The interior layout creates distinct spaces that guide how visitors move and experience the sanctuary.

Construction of this church began in 1785 after the previous building was demolished, with its foundations supported by 700 oak logs transported from Bokrijk. This new building replaced what had stood before and established the structure that remains today.

Inside this church, twelve Tuscan columns stand as representations of the apostles, while painted wooden statues and artworks by André-Martin Vivroux decorate the walls. These artistic elements shape how the interior looks and feels when you walk through it.

The church holds regular religious services throughout the year, including masses, baptisms, and other ceremonies that visitors can observe. Checking local information beforehand helps you plan your visit around these events and understand what to expect when you arrive.

This church houses a Robustelly organ from 1664, the second largest organ in Limburg province. The instrument stands out not only for its size but also for how well it has survived and continues to be used after so many centuries.
