Founded in 1830 when Belgium gained independence, Carolus Strubbe established the brewery while working as a farmer during summer months.
The brewery stands as one of the remaining producers in Ichtegem, where three breweries previously operated in the region's rich beer making tradition.
Located along the Roeselare-Oostende route, the facility produces multiple Belgian beer varieties including Blonde, Dubbel, Tripel, and the Ichtegems Grand Cru.
The protected monument status recognizes the continuous family ownership and preservation of brewing methods since Belgium's establishment as a nation.
