Former headquarters of the CGER-ASLK, Mixed-use development in Pentagon, Brussels, Belgium.
The former CGER-ASLK headquarters is a large mixed-use building complex in the Pentagon district of Brussels. It houses apartments, student rooms, offices, and hotels connected by different architectural styles.
The building originally arose as headquarters of a savings fund in the early 20th century, designed by architect Henri Beyaert. Its later transformation by Alban Chambon into mixed-use space marked its conversion into a modern urban area.
The site takes its name from architect Alban Chambon, who directed the transformation of the former bank building. The green copper facades define its appearance and create a distinctive feature in the urban landscape.
The complex is easy to reach on foot and sits centrally in Brussels, with multiple entrances for different areas. Visitors can explore the grounds while enjoying green spaces that connect different parts together.
The green copper facades were deliberately painted rather than allowed to oxidize naturally. This choice gives the building an unusual look that departs from the typical patina development seen on copper.
