Kasteel van Potegem

Kasteel van Potegem is a neo-baroque castle in Waregem surrounded by a double moat system. A curved bridge connects the main building to the surrounding parkland, creating a peaceful setting with open lawns and mature trees.

The site first appeared in written records in 964 when a Flemish count granted it to a monastery. In the 1800s it became a boarding school, then underwent architectural redesign in the early 1900s to achieve its current neo-baroque appearance.

The castle takes its name from the Potegem family, who shaped the region for centuries through their presence and influence. Visitors can sense this connection to the past when walking through the grounds and observing how the building still defines the landscape.

The castle sits opposite a horse racing venue and is bordered by a river on two sides. Visitors should note that the property is surrounded by water, with accessible pathways around the grounds for exploring the area.
