Drielandenpunt, International tripoint at Vaalserberg, Netherlands
Drielandenpunt sits at the summit of Vaalserberg and marks the exact spot where the borders of Belgium, Germany, and Netherlands meet. At this highest point of the region, the three national boundaries converge in a single geographical location.
Until 1919, this was a quadripoint where four boundaries converged, including the neutral zone of Moresnet. After that year, the territory was divided among the three current nations and its present status became fixed.
The location brings together people from the three nations who gather and connect here. Regular events celebrate cross-border traditions and the friendships between neighboring communities.
Walking trails from Vaals or Aachen lead directly to the summit, where parking facilities and an information center offering multilingual guidance are available. The site remains accessible year-round and provides a pleasant hike through forested and open landscapes.
The location features an observation tower on the Belgian side offering views across all three countries, while European's largest hedge maze sits on Dutch territory. Both features transform the visit into more than just a geographical marker.
