Musée africain de Namur, African heritage museum in Namur, Belgium
The Musée Africain exhibits numerous artifacts, documents, and cultural objects from Central Africa, with particular emphasis on items from Congo.
The museum, established in 1912, underwent transformations following damages during both World Wars and reopened in new premises in 1951.
The museum maintains a collection of traditional African weapons, furniture, musical instruments, and everyday objects that display Central African craftsmanship.
The institution remains closed for renovation work until April 2025, but its documentation center opens Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 to 15:00.
The library contains 20,000 volumes covering African topics including geography, zoology, geology, ethnography, and economics of the continent.
