NTGent, Cultural foundation in Sint-Baafsplein, Ghent, Belgium.
NTGent is a theater organization operating across multiple venues in Ghent, including the Royal Dutch Theatre with about 600 seats and Minnemeers with roughly 200 seats. The spaces host contemporary plays, ranging from smaller productions to larger-scale works.
The organization was founded in 1965 as a public institution, receiving support from the Flemish Community and the City of Ghent. Since its creation, it has grown into a major venue for contemporary theater production.
The foundation presents work that reflects contemporary society and addresses the concerns of today. Visitors encounter productions designed to engage audiences in dialogue about current issues.
The venues have undergone renovation and now offer improved accessibility for all visitors. Check the current program to find the best time to visit, keeping in mind the different capacities of each space.
Since the 2023-2024 season, three artistic directors jointly guide the work: Barbara Raes, Yves Degryse, and Melih Gençboyacı. This shared leadership is uncommon in theater and shapes the artistic direction of the house.
