Domaine Solvay, Castle park in La Hulpe, Belgium.
Domaine Solvay is a castle park in La Hulpe spread across more than 200 hectares with formal gardens, ornamental sculptures, and walking trails. The grounds contain forested sections that provide shade and natural character to the landscape.
A nobleman acquired the land in 1833 and commissioned a castle built between then and 1842. The property gradually transformed into an organized estate with designed gardens and pathways.
The Folon Foundation occupies a farmhouse on the grounds and displays works by Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon spanning painting, sculpture, and mixed media. The collection reflects his artistic vision and offers insight into contemporary European art.
The grounds are open daily year-round with free entry for all visitors. Multiple pathways of varying length allow people to walk at their own pace through different sections.
The property contains a heritage orchard with around 400 fruit trees of different varieties. This botanical collection is visible as visitors walk through and can observe the different species planted across the grounds.
