Џами Тепе

Džami Tepe is the summit of the Maleshevo Mountains, located on the border between Bulgaria and North Macedonia. The mountain range has steep slopes and consists of metamorphic rock formations that create the dramatic terrain.

The summit was originally known as Dzhamo before being renamed in 1942. This change reflects important geographical and political shifts that occurred in the region during the 20th century.

The summit marks the natural border between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, holding significance for people on both sides. This boundary location makes it a place where two regions meet and share the surrounding landscape.

The route to the summit requires good physical fitness and sturdy footwear as the terrain is demanding. Visitors should bring plenty of water and appropriate clothing since weather conditions can change quickly at higher elevations.

As you climb, the vegetation changes from dense beech and pine forests to open mountain grasslands. From the summit you can see both the Struma River valley and the Pirin Mountains in the distance.
