Neolithic Dwellings Museum, Archaeological museum in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria
The Neolithic Dwellings Museum exhibits two complete dwelling structures from the 6th millennium BC, protected within a modern glass-walled building. Connected display areas showcase tools, pottery, and household items recovered from the site.
Excavations beginning in the 20th century uncovered remains of early agricultural settlements dating back around 8000 years. An ancient fire naturally preserved the structures and created a valuable record of how early societies in southeastern Europe lived.
The exhibits display everyday objects that reveal how early European farmers built their homes and organized their settlements. These items tell the story of when people first began living together in permanent communities.
The museum sits in a central location within the city and is easily accessible on foot with visitor facilities on the grounds. Comfortable shoes are recommended as the visit takes you through the covered excavation area.
More than 1800 objects have been recovered from this site, including stone tools and pottery that create a detailed picture of daily life in this period. This extensive collection makes the location one of the most informative for understanding early European farming.
