First Shot bridge

The First Shot Bridge spans across the Topolnitsa River with stone arches and traditional Bulgarian architectural elements from the early 19th century.

Built in 1813, this bridge gained prominence as the location where the first gunshot of the April Uprising against Ottoman rule occurred on April 20, 1876.

The bridge forms part of the 100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria program, representing the architectural and historical legacy of the Bulgarian National Revival period.

Located at coordinates 42.6375, 24.356389, the bridge connects two sections of Koprivshtitsa and remains accessible for pedestrians throughout the year.

Every May 1st, the bridge serves as the central location for historical reenactments of the April Uprising, drawing participants from across Bulgaria.
