Praia do Balneário do Estreito

Praia do Balneário do Estreito is an urban beach on Florianópolis mainland featuring dark sand and gentle waves facing the North Bay. It extends roughly 1.8 kilometers from Buchuller Creek to Ponta do Leal, with several access points and boat facilities along the waterfront.

The area belonged to São José municipality until 1943, when a territorial reorganization led by Nereu Ramos annexed it to Florianópolis. This shift brought the neighborhood under the city's administration and influenced its development as a residential and recreational zone.

This beach transformed from cattle pasture into a social gathering place for the neighborhood over the past century. People come here today to swim, walk along the shore, and escape the city's bustle without leaving home.

The beach is easily accessible from José Cândido da Silva Street with multiple entry points along the shoreline. Visitors should be aware of boat traffic in the area, so swimming in designated sections is recommended.

From the water's edge, visitors can see the Hercílio Luz Bridge, several small islands dotting the North Bay, and the city of Biguaçu across the water. This outlook offers a clear sense of how the different parts of the greater Florianópolis area connect geographically.
