Hara Zamkavaya

Zamkowa is a summit in Navahrudak Region that rises to 346 meters above sea level, making it the highest point across the entire country. The peak sits surrounded by rolling terrain that characterizes much of the landscape in this part of Belarus.

The summit formed during the last ice age when glacial movements shaped the landscape across the region. These ancient geological processes created the elevated terrain that defines this area of Belarus today.

The mountain's name reflects the linguistic diversity of the region, with different meanings in Belarusian, Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian. You can see this variety in local signs and place names throughout the area surrounding the summit.

You can reach the summit via marked trails beginning from nearby settlements, with the clearest and driest conditions from May to September. Outside these months, the paths may become muddy or snow-covered, which can make the walk more difficult.

This peak stands out as a clear reference point for understanding the country's landforms, surrounded by forests that cover much of the nation. From the summit, you can see how distinctive this elevated point is compared to the flat, forested terrain that surrounds it for many kilometers in all directions.
