Government House of Belarus, Parliament building in Independence Square, Minsk, Belarus
The Government House features a monumental facade with ascending volumes from the periphery to the center, covering 240,000 cubic meters of space.
During World War II from 1941 to 1944, the German forces established SS headquarters, Gestapo offices, and Luftwaffe facilities within the building.
The National Assembly of Belarus conducts its legislative sessions in this building, with two chambers operating in separate sections of the structure.
The building houses multiple government institutions, including the Council of Ministers, the House of Representatives, and the Presidential Library of Belarus.
The building design, completed in 1934 by architect Iosif Langbard, won first place in a nationwide architectural competition in 1929.
