Number One Bloor, Postmodern skyscraper at Bloor Street and Yonge Street intersection, Toronto, Canada
Number One Bloor is a 257 meter tall residential tower with 75 floors located at the intersection of Bloor Street and Yonge Street, designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects. The building houses residential units in its upper sections while the lower levels contain retail spaces and extensive amenities spread across the sixth and seventh floors.
The project started in 2007 under Bazis International and changed hands before completion in 2015 under Great Gulf's direction. This timeline reflects how Toronto's residential and urban landscape evolved during that decade.
The building represents postmodern design through its blend of contemporary elements and hints at traditional styles. This approach shapes how the Bloor-Yonge intersection looks and feels to people who pass through the area daily.
The tower is served by nine elevators making it easy to reach different levels. Its location at a major intersection provides good access to surrounding public transportation and helps visitors orient themselves in the downtown area.
The building features two different facade patterns on its sides that create visual interest when viewed from above. This asymmetrical design is subtle from street level but becomes more apparent when viewed from a distance or from the air.
