Two Bloor West, Office skyscraper at Yonge and Bloor intersection, Toronto, Canada
Two Bloor West is an office tower at the corner of Yonge and Bloor in Toronto, rising 34 floors to a height of 148 meters (about 485 feet). The building sits at one of the city's busiest intersections and is surrounded by shops, transit entrances, and other commercial towers.
The tower was completed in 1972, during a period when Toronto was rapidly expanding its downtown office market and adding new high-rises across the city center. A major interior renovation in the 1980s updated the lobby and interior spaces to meet the standards of that time.
Several international consulates are based in the building, including those of Spain, the Czech Republic, Denmark, and France. Visitors passing through the lobby may notice the steady flow of people from many different countries going about their official business.
The building sits directly above Bloor-Yonge subway station, one of the main transfer points in Toronto's transit network, making it easy to reach by public transport from most parts of the city. The surrounding area at Yonge and Bloor has many shops and services within walking distance.
Although the building is officially called Two Bloor West, it was known for many years by the name of its main tenant at the time and is still referred to that way by many people in Toronto. This pattern of naming office towers after their main tenants is common across downtown Toronto.
