Redpath Library, University library at McGill campus, Montreal, Canada
The Redpath Library stands on McTavish Street with Montreal limestone walls and features carved symbols of the Four Evangelists on its exterior.
Peter Redpath and Grace Wood donated the library building to McGill University in 1893 to address the growing need for educational space.
The reading room contains stained glass windows depicting figures from poetry, fine arts, and music, including representations of Homer, Virgil, Bach, and Beethoven.
The building now functions as Redpath Hall, hosting music recitals and events while housing specialized collections in the Blacker-Wood and Blackader-Lauterman libraries.
The library incorporated innovative design elements for 1893, including a steel frame structure for the stacks and glass floors that allowed light transmission between levels.
