CFS Mill Cove, Military communication station near Hubbards, Nova Scotia, Canada
CFS Mill Cove is a former Canadian Forces communication station located near Hubbards in Nova Scotia with three operational zones. The upper site housed operations, the lower site contained administrative functions, and Newport Corner handled radio transmissions.
The station opened in December 1967 and became the east coast's primary naval communications center, replacing Naval Radio Station Albro Lake. The facility operated for several decades before transitioning from military control to civilian use.
The station served as a critical communication hub for naval operations across the Atlantic region. Personnel worked to maintain vital links between ships and shore facilities during both routine and emergency situations.
The site is not open to the public as it remains private property with restricted access. Visitors interested in the location can gather information from local historical societies or community resources in the Hubbards area.
The former military residential buildings were converted into private homes after the site transitioned from military operation. The administrative buildings now serve as the location for Aspotogan Elementary School, giving the former military grounds a new purpose in the community.
