Dominion Public Building, Federal heritage building at Front and Bay Streets, Toronto, Canada
The Dominion Public Building stands as a five-story Beaux-Arts structure with a curved facade following Front Street and classical stone decorations throughout its exterior.
The building emerged between 1926 and 1935 on the site of former wholesale warehouses that burned during the Great Toronto Fire of 1904.
The structure features public lobbies with grey marble cladding, demonstrating the institutional design principles of Canadian federal architecture in the 1930s.
Canada Lands Company sold the building to Larco Investments in 2017, which plans to convert it into retail space with two additional mixed-use towers.
The north facade curves along Front Street, creating a harmonious connection with Union Station and establishing a grand streetscape in downtown Toronto.
