Scarboro Golf and Country Club, Private golf course in Woburn, Canada
The Scarboro Golf and Country Club is a private facility with 18 holes set across about 144 acres (58 hectares) distinguished by natural obstacles. West Highland Creek cuts through several fairways, creating water features that demand strategic shot-making throughout the round.
The club was founded in 1912 by financier A.E. Ames, representing an early chapter in Canadian golf development. A major redesign by A.W. Tillinghast in 1924 shaped the course into its current form and marked Tillinghast's only work in Canada.
The course represents the heart of membership life, where players from the community gather to participate in a sport rooted in the club's tradition. Its role extends beyond golf, serving as a social hub that defines the local golfing identity.
The course is reserved for members and offers dining and event spaces alongside the fairways for social gatherings. Visitors should understand that this is a private location where golf etiquette and course rules apply to everyone.
The venue has hosted four Canadian Open tournaments, attracting world-class players including Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. This heritage illustrates how the club gained prominence within international golf competition over the decades.
